Backwashing Sediment Filters
Backwashing sediment filters are a whole-home solution to heavy sediment. These systems pass water through a bed of zeolite sand to effectively remove large volumes of sediment down to the 5-micron level. Periodic backwashes are coordinated by the Clack control valve to flush trapped sediment to drain. These systems are very well suited to homes and cottages supplied by surface water where heavy sediment loads make cartridge filtration impractical and expensive.
