String wound water filters are a cost-conscious option for reducing sand, silt, rust particles and scale particles. They are resistant to chemicals and corrosion too. The only limitation to string wound filters is that they hold less dirt than other types of sediment water filters. Look to spun poly filters for maximum dirt holding capacity.
